An independent website, not a temple or organisation
ഈ വെബ്സൈറ്റ് ആരുടേതാണ്?keralatempleguide.com is an independent website about Kerala's temples, written and maintained by one person, Dr. Premarajan M K. It is not run by any temple, trust, Devaswom Board or religious organisation, and it does not speak for any of them. Where we describe a temple's rules or schedule, we are reporting them, not setting them.
The site is bilingual, in English and Malayalam, because the readers who need temple information most are often Malayalis planning a visit, families abroad reconnecting with their traditions, and first-time visitors who want to understand what they see.
Most temple pages stop at the timings
എന്തിനീ ഗൈഡ്?Look up almost any Kerala temple online and you will find an address, a set of timings and two lines of history. What visitors actually wonder about is left out: why a custom exists, what an offering is for, when the big festival falls, which parts of a famous story are history and which are tradition, and what the rules are for a family with a small child.
This site tries to answer those questions in plain language, with enough care that a reader can trust the answer and enough honesty to say when we could not confirm something.

How we keep the guides trustworthy
ഞങ്ങളുടെ എഡിറ്റോറിയൽ മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങൾTradition and fact are kept apart
Legends and beliefs are told as tradition. Dates, rules, routes and distances are checked against published sources, and each page says where it relies on local belief.
Sources we rely on
Official temple and Devaswom Board websites, Kerala Tourism, reference works, and news reports of past festivals. Wikipedia is used for background only, never as the sole source for a fact.
We say what we could not verify
Fees, changing schedules, parking and similar details are rarely published reliably. When we could not confirm something, we tell you to call the temple instead of guessing.
No unsupported science
We do not repeat explanations that sound scientific but cannot be sourced, such as exact frequencies or measured "energy". Where real research or documented facts exist, we say so; where a custom is simply belief, we call it belief.
Respect, and honesty about disputes
The guides are written for every sincere reader. Temple rules — entry restrictions, dress codes — are described as the temple's own rules, and where a rule is contested, as at Sabarimala, we say that it is contested.
Not medical advice
Some temples are associated with comfort in times of distress. We describe such practices as devotional support and never as treatment; for any health concern, please see a qualified doctor or mental health professional.
Credited images, disclosed links
Images from Wikimedia Commons carry the photographer and licence. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored and explained in our affiliate disclosure, and they never decide what we write.
Updates and corrections
Time-sensitive details such as festival dates are flagged, pages show when they were last reviewed, and mistakes are corrected promptly once reported.
From question to published page
- Pick a real question. We start with what visitors and families actually need to know, such as a ceremony date, a dress rule or how to reach a temple.
- Gather from reliable sources. Official temple and Devaswom Board sites, Kerala Tourism, reference works and recent news reports.
- Separate fact from tradition. Documented details go in as facts; legends and beliefs are labelled as tradition.
- Mark what we could not confirm. Unverified fees, schedules and similar details are flagged, with a pointer to the temple office.
- Credit and link responsibly. Images are credited, sources are named, and sponsored links are disclosed.
- Review and update. Dates and schedules are rechecked before major festival seasons, and corrections are made when readers report them.
"Serving people is serving the divine" — a saying many Kerala devotees grew up with. It is the spirit we try to write in: respectful of tradition, open to every sincere reader, and focused on being genuinely useful.
